China – GB 30585-2024: Safety technical specifications for infants’ and Children’s footwear will come into effective June 1, 2025
The Standardization Administration of China has announced that GB 30585-2024 “Safety technical specifications for infants’ and children’s footwear” will come into effect on June 1, 2025. This standard applies to footwear products made from various materials, intended for children and infants aged 14 years or below.

China – GB 25038-2024: General safety requirements for footwear, Effective June 1,2025
The Standardization Administration of China has announced that GB 25038-2024 “General safety requirements for footwear” will come into effect on June 1, 2025. The standard is applicable to footwear products made of various materials. It does not apply to protective shoes (boots), footwear for children aged 14 years or below.

Rhode Island Enacts 2024 Consumer Protection Act Banning PFAS in Multiple Products
On June 26, 2024, Rhode Island Governor McKee approved the Consumer PFAS Ban Act of 2024 (Senate Bill S2152). This legislation imposes a sweeping prohibition on the use of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in products available for sale or produced within the state.

EU - Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) Overview 2024
The Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 of the Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) was officially published on June 13, 2024. EU REACH – ECHA adds one hazardous chemical to the Candidate List
On June 27, 2024, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) expanded the Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) Candidate List by adding a new substance: bis(α,α-dimethylbenzyl) peroxide. This chemical, known for its toxicity to reproduction, serves various industrial purposes, including use as a processing aid and flame retardant.
